Alignment Yoga: All levels welcome. We are skilled at teaching to the level of the individuals who show up for each class. These classes focus on teaching specific actions in the body. Over time, these actions make students stronger and more flexible as well as create more balance in our yoga poses.
Alignment Energetics: In this class, while the specific actions (see Alignment Yoga description) are still taught, the energetics of the body are also a primary focus. Beginners love this class.
Kick “A”: The “A” in this class stands for Alignment and it stands for Advanced. This is our longer format, more vigorous, more interactive class. The instructor practices with the class. Expect timed poses, lots are partner work, lots of silliness and more challenging poses. This class is designed to kick your asana!
Chair Yoga: A gentle practice geared toward seniors age 62+. Class includes seated and standing postures using a chair as support. Great for older students new to yoga and those who may have some limited mobility. Move at the pace of your own body while learning and practicing principles of alignment.
Acudetox Yoga: Students of all levels are encouraged to join this class. We will practice yoga asana for 30 minutes after which Jen will offer NADA 5-point ear acupuncture to those interested followed by a loosely guided meditation while we allow the needles to do their work. Acudetox is a 5-point ear acupuncture protocol through the National Acupunture Detoxification Association (NADA). It focuses on five points in the ear to help induce a sense of calm as well as detoxify the body. Possible benefits include: general feeling of well-being, improved sleep, a sense of relaxation, and decreased cravings for addictive substances. Acudetox has also been utilized to help treat anxiety and depression.
Sadhana Society: Come explore the power of collective consciousness in this once a month meeting of Sadhanas (yoga practitioners). This class starts with an hour of Mysore style practice for intermediate/advanced practitioners to come together for a freestyle practice within their own needs with their own flow. After savasana, the class will join with the Mahamrityunjaya mantra (provided) for 15 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of breathing, and will conclude with 30 minutes of silent meditation (new meditation suggested monthly by Benny James). This class is designed to be a bridge for those who wish to deepen into the less commonly practiced aspects of yoga, and will be loosely guided by the knowledgeable Benny James. It is recommended that practitioners have been practicing in teacher led classes for at least six months in order to be able to move safely through their own practice.
